Spring is in full effect, Earth Day has come and gone, and I’m ready to share some exciting news! Today my travel blog, Wander & Ponder, is officially “launching” 😄
The world is an amazing place: our awe-inspiring landscapes and cultural diversity are nothing short of inspirational. However, sometimes I worried that we take it for granted. Between advertising tropes, vapid social media content, and “us versus them” narratives in the news, it feels like a lot of people don’t understand (or care) about our rich foreign cultures and delicate ecosystems.
I truly believe that the best way to understanding and respecting a new culture is to physically immerse yourself in it, but vacations are more than taking selfies on the beach, shopping sprees, or all-you-can-eat buffets! They are an opportunity to experience the intricacies of a society first-hand. They are an opportunity to see the world through another lens, and reflect on your own life and culture to better develop as a person.
This is why I started Wander & Ponder. In my free time, I’ve been trying to write informative, thoughtful, and thought-provoking articles to inspire others. Unless otherwise noted, everything I write about is from first-hand experiences and reflects my true feelings. There are no outside influencers or advertisers telling me what to say or how to say it. Right now, I have the time to post about an article a month, but hope to find the time to increase that number soon!
I have been extremely privileged to have opportunities to explore the world, and hope to provide some value to you as I share my stories and experiences. I hope to inspire others to travel thoughtfully: respect the culture and landscape you are visiting, and take measures to lessen your impact on the Earth as you travel.
