Excited to share some brief non-travel news! Before I jump right in, I think a little backstory would help set the tone:
I first started working on Wander & Ponder in late 2018. At the time, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, but I wanted to build something related to how travel has enriched my life. I started to write, since I didn’t know a lot about photography and wasn’t sure how else to express myself. So, I wrote! I put together dozens of blog post ideas and rough drafts until I finally found my voice when talking about thoughtful travel. I loved the idea of being able to enrich others’ lives by teaching them how to embrace productive and positive mindsets through travel. Professionally, as an occupational therapist, my work revolves around empowering others; this felt like the perfect marriage between my profession and passion.
So, what does this have to do with Shop W&P? Well, starting out, I was motivated and driven to share my stories and advice with the world. I didn’t realize that doing something like is came with a number of one-time and recurring technical costs that add up over time. Thankfully I’ve had a lot of technical support to make informed decisions along the way, and take the time to use as many original and free creative assets as possible. Most of the photos you see on the site were taken by me (or the talented @chris_germano)!
The costs aren’t the only reason I started Shop W&P, though! Honestly, I thought it would just be really fun to make an ecommerce platform that allowed me to share real, physical objects with the world. In a way, it’s a new outlet to explore travel-inspired creativity. I don’t know exactly what direction I’ll take Shop W&P in, but I have a few ideas to start things off. If there’s anything you’d like to see, please reach out!
So, without further adieu, here are the first baby steps of Shop W&P!
More Than Just a Store
If you follow us on Facebook, you would have seen that Wander & Ponder has recently become a Brave Verified Publisher. This means that visitors using the Brave browser (like Chrome but with a focus on user privacy and ad-blocking) can support the Wander & Ponder super easily, and often times for free!
Brave uses a cryptocurrency called BAT (Basic Attention Token). As you use the browser, you passively earn them and can give them to websites you want to support. Even better, if you use our referral link to use the browser (which of course is completely free), we get a little thank you gift in return! This is a powerful and sustainable way for us to support our operating costs with minimal impact to our visitors and friends. As an added bonus, Brave protects your privacy outside of Wander & Ponder as well. No matter what, thank you SO much for your support, and remember to wander and ponder!
To stay up to date with new and exclusive content, be sure to follow Wander & Ponder on Facebook and Instagram. Thanks!
